I said in the past I wasn’t a fan of fake meat products, but that was before I had tried fake bacon. This stuff is so good, and at 20 calories and 2 grams of protein a slice, not too bad for you! Real bacon doesn’t tempt me. It smells good and all when you cook it, but for me its not worth the calories. Kyle eats bacon all the time and wouldn’t mind if everything was wrapped in bacon (speaking of, have you seen this bacon wrapped turducken aka turbaconducken).
The only time I like bacon is in a bacon egg sandwich. They remind me of the airport. I used to travel a lot with my mom (her work takes her all over the world) and before getting on a plane in the morning we would get egg Mcmuffins and eat them on the plane. My favorite trip was London in 2004, and I’m sure the plane ride began with an egg Mcmuffin. :)
In this sandwich the fake bacon tastes just like the real thing and I used an Ezekial English Muffin of course. The bacon gets very crispy, I may make some bacon bits with a few pieces. On its own it could not fool a bacon lover like Kyle though. I think its delicious, Kyle thinks its a crime.
Nowadays however, breakfast is more about fruit. I read Skinny Bitch last month and I am still applying a lot of what I read in the book. Every morning I make a smoothie with frozen fruits, nonfat yogurt, flax oil, flax seed, banana and some almond milk. This helps get my day going and I really do think it helps energize me. I mean how can sugary pancakes help start your day? After that sugar rush you will be ready to crash!
Skinny Bitch explains that you should eat fruit in the morning (when your body is hungry, not when you wake up!) and it will already be digested by the time you eat lunch and your body will be ready for more food. When you eat heavy foods first thing in the morning and then at lunch a few hours later, you are putting more food in your intestines than can be digested in that amount of time. Remember when food sits in your intestines it is basically fermenting, and the longer it sits there the more risk you are at for colon problems. Eat your fruit in the morning and your breakfast for dinner!!
