Natalie's Killer Cuisine

I have a list. Can we go over it? Just 3 things.

Don’t worry, the third point is a delicious recipe. I save the best for last.

1. I did not post a Saturday Stills this past Saturday. Sorry about that. Life has been crazy. But I will make it up to you next week with a post full of fresh, hip and happening pictures. Or something like that! But if you need a fix, here are my Lady Gaga pictures, one more time!

2. Tonight my Deal or Dud segment will be airing on the local news. Fox 4 news to be exact.

In the words of Ron Burgandy, “I‘m kind of a big deal.”

Okay not really, but I am really excited about it! The video will be online soon and I will link back to it in this post once it is. They told me my website will be mentioned which means I will hopefully be getting some local traffic that has never heard of Natalie’s Killer Cuisine. If you are new and heard of me through the segment, I welcome you. Now check out this cheesecake pie, this brownie cake, or this killer dinner using bacon, chicken, jalapeños and cream cheese. You will want to make those. Just sayin’. And the snickerdoodle cookies recipe that were made in the TV segment will be on here in the next few days.

Go ahead and subscribe by email for the recipe. Easy as pie!

*The website was not mentioned, but welcome to my blog anyways! Click here to see the video.*

3. I made blondies recently and we ate the entire pan in 2 days. The first day we ate them out of the pan, cutting away uneven squares as we went. Of course I tried to make it look like I had not touched the blondies by evening the lines, which leads to eating even more. Let’s not go there.

But the next day I had a genius idea to make some Cheesecake Ice Cream (adding vanilla bean), Brown Sugar Whiskey Sauce, and eat it for dinner. I mean dessert. I mean it was the best meal ever. If you have never made blondies they are like  brownies, only without the cocoa or chocolate in the batter. And they usually have more brown sugar than brownies, and we all know how much I love brown sugar. They are a great treat to make when thinking of a sweet snack for a gathering or bake sale and can be easily adjusted to your preferences. I like mine a little on the salty side, if you don’t add half the amount I said in the recipe. Happy baking!

Chocolate Butterscotch Blondies
yield: 9 large blondies

1/2 cup Butter, melted
1 cup Dark Brown Sugar
1 egg
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1/8 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup AP Flour
1 cup Butterscotch Chips
1 cup Chocolate Chips

preheat oven to 350 degrees and prepare an 8×8 pan

1.  Whisk together the melted butter and sugar in a bowl.
2. Add the egg and vanilla extract and whisk.
3. Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt and mix. Add the butterscotch and chocolate chips.
4. Pour into the pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool. Cut into squares.

Congrats to you and the buzz around you! Never met a blondie I didn’t like. No matter how hard I try to stay away from sweets, the blogs draw me in and I sigh and I sigh. I am looking at your photos sighing.

I think this is a neat idea but I know at least one person in my family would say that adding chocolate ruins the entire point of a blondie to begin with.

  • Comment by Natalie — August 6, 2010 @ 4:43 pm

Some people would say that, I wouldn’t. I consider this a blondie because there is no cocoa in the batter. Chocolate chips don’t make a brownie a brownie, it’s the chocolate and cocoa batter.
