    Cake 150

Hello everyone who is left! I havent posted in quite a while, as you may have noticed. Sorry ’bout that! Things have been quite busy for me, but anyone who knows me personally knows that I secretly love to be busy. I like to be working towards something. Going in the direction forward, rather than at a stand still. I am now working full time (40-50 hours a week), school for photography full time, homework galore and of course, taking care of my hungry boyfriend Kyle and our dog Holly! And I love every minute of it. I am in an architecture photography class, so I have been taking plenty of pictures of buildings and architectural details. And who wants to look at buildings on a food blog? Read More | Comments

    Cranberry Oatmeal Bars - 150

I have mentioned it before, but when I was a teenager I worked at Starbucks (so we’re talkin’ 2004/2005), and I still find myself craving the pastries that I used to eat daily.

If you are one to splurge on a treat when at Starbucks, then you will know they have changed in the last 6-7 years. Gone are the days of espresso fudge brownies, toffee almond bars, marble pound cake and the delicious cranberry oatmeal bars.  Read More | Comments

    Espresso Cookies - 150

Sometimes I want a sophisticated cookie.

The kind that deserves a pretty plate instead of a ziplock baggy. And the kind that requires an explanation to others when you offering them one. “An olive oil cookie, what does that mean?”, I was asked as I gave these to my co-workers. They were delicate, delicious and sophisticated, and led us all to the office coffee maker (to discuss important business matters like Charlie Sheen.) Read More | Comments

    CHocolate Peanuts - 150

These past two days have been awesome. Tuesdays are usually my long days with work all day and school all night, but we got a snow day! There was some ice, an inch (if that) of snow, but we Texans can not handle driving on any sort of snow, slush, ice, etc. So we freak out and close up shop. Fine with me ! Work was closed and school was cancelled, and last night was the coldest night DFW has seen in 15 years. So guess what? Everything is closed today too!

Potato Soup - 150 px square

I’m a few days late. If you follow me on twitter then you know my internet is down. Our modem died on me around 10pm on New Years Eve, right when I was about to publish this post. As much as I would like to blame the cable company, it’s so my fault, I’ve knocked the damn thing over like a thousand times in the past three years. Anywho, I’ve enjoyed other activities, such as interacting with people face to face! But grab a glass of champage and pretend it’s New Years Eve again, and check out my top ten recipes of 2010. Cinnamon Chip Chai Shortbread Bars - 150

If you are like me, then you are tired of thinking about and seeing Thanksgiving recipes. I love the holidays but being a food blog and culinary magazine reader, I tend to get burned out on the sweet potatoes, the casseroles, the green beans, the turkeys, and the pumpkin pies. And then after Thanksgiving comes the leftovers recipes… but I like my leftovers plain and simple, heated up in the microwave (I say that with some shame). What I do love so much about the holidays though, is the specialty flavored baking items. Read More | Comments

    Butterfinger Bars - 150

Dear blog, hey it’s Natalie, remember me? It’s been three weeks since I last blogged. I’m sorry… forgive me?

School has been keeping me so busy. I’m not going to say I don’t enjoy it, I am the kind of person that likes to be busy working towards something, but I have been annoyed that it leaves me little time to blog. I try to spend around an hour a night relaxing, either cooking Kyle dinner (yes I find that relaxing, in fact I love it) or watching Sons of Anarchy and Dexter, my two favorite shows right now. My third one would be Vampire Diaries, but there isn’t a chance in you know where Kyle is going to watch that show. But I should be telling you about these chewy butterfinger bars, instead of my TV obsessions. Read More | Comments

Moroccan Pears - 150 px square

First off, thank you to anyone who voted for me to proceed to the next round of Project Food Blog. If you did not see it, here is my first entry. I am one of 400 advancing to the next round, which is exciting! This contest is honestly a first of its kind, and so freakin’ cool. Though I hate competing against my fellow food bloggers that I have such a bond with, I will be so excited if I (heres hoping) or one of my friends wins. But we have many more challenges to go until we get that far! The second challenge is called The Classics. We were to pick a cuisine that is foreign to us and our blog, and create a classic dish from that cuisine. Read More | Comments

    Macarons - 150 px square

    Natalie: 2 Macarons: 1

Confused? Let me explain. Macarons are notorious on the internet and food blogs for failing. They are not necessarily hard to make, but so many factors can cause their ultimate demise. Either they crack, they stick, they are flat, or the dreaded macaron that doesn’t have feet. Read More | Comments

cookies pudding - 150 px square

Yes, another chocolate chip cookie recipe. As if the internet doesn’t have enough. When googling ‘Chocolate Chip Cookie’ there are 1,320,000 results. So how do you decide which recipe to make? Do you have a standard, never changing chocolate chip cookie recipe? Or do you like trying a new recipe every time? My chocolate chip cookie making ways differ. Usually, I prefer this recipe here. You melt the butter and let the sugar melt in it, which creates an absoluely perfect cookie… seriously.

But this certain day that I was making chocolate chip cookies, I realized I had no butter whatsoever in the house. I couldn’t believe it and slapped myself around a bit. And then went back to the chocolate chip cookie making business. I realized I had plenty of vegetable oil and where butter goes, oil can usually replace it (hey, just look at my pie crust recipe!). So these are butter free chocolate chip cookies (which by the way, only yields 519,000 search results on google. Now, 519,001!) Read More | Comments
