    Cranberry Oatmeal Bars - 150

I have mentioned it before, but when I was a teenager I worked at Starbucks (so we’re talkin’ 2004/2005), and I still find myself craving the pastries that I used to eat daily.

If you are one to splurge on a treat when at Starbucks, then you will know they have changed in the last 6-7 years. Gone are the days of espresso fudge brownies, toffee almond bars, marble pound cake and the delicious cranberry oatmeal bars.  Read More | Comments

Cinnamon Chip Chai Shortbread Bars - 150

If you are like me, then you are tired of thinking about and seeing Thanksgiving recipes. I love the holidays but being a food blog and culinary magazine reader, I tend to get burned out on the sweet potatoes, the casseroles, the green beans, the turkeys, and the pumpkin pies. And then after Thanksgiving comes the leftovers recipes… but I like my leftovers plain and simple, heated up in the microwave (I say that with some shame). What I do love so much about the holidays though, is the specialty flavored baking items. Read More | Comments

    Butterfinger Bars - 150

Dear blog, hey it’s Natalie, remember me? It’s been three weeks since I last blogged. I’m sorry… forgive me?

School has been keeping me so busy. I’m not going to say I don’t enjoy it, I am the kind of person that likes to be busy working towards something, but I have been annoyed that it leaves me little time to blog. I try to spend around an hour a night relaxing, either cooking Kyle dinner (yes I find that relaxing, in fact I love it) or watching Sons of Anarchy and Dexter, my two favorite shows right now. My third one would be Vampire Diaries, but there isn’t a chance in you know where Kyle is going to watch that show. But I should be telling you about these chewy butterfinger bars, instead of my TV obsessions. Read More | Comments

    FudgeBars

When it comes to desserts, I pick chocolate over fruit any day. If I am somewhere where there are options, I will likely pick the most rich, decadent chocolate dessert I can (unless its 100 degrees, then I don’t want to eat anything… or move my body). So when it came time to decide how to use the big bag of oats I just bought, I thought oatmeal chocolate chip cookies sounded good. I have never made them. But then I started thinking about the chocolate part of the dessert, and I wanted more than just chocolate chips. I wanted a richer, more chocolatey dessert, but still using the oats. I couldn’t have asked for more with these oatmeal fudge bars. Read More | Comments

    brownies - 150 px square

I like writing numbered lists, especially in class. It makes me feel organized. Even if my list is scattered and all over the place. Let’s talk pizza, TV, and fudge brownies, shall we?

    1. Kyle picked up a pizza yesterday. A large delicious I-could-eat-you-everyday cheesy pizza. Inside the box was a small plastic container of Parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes. Kyle then tripped (though he may prefer if I say the box simply flew out of his hands) and the red pepper flakes burst open, and covered the pizza. The pizza looked like it had chicken pox! And I didn’t eat any of it. Why is this significant to me? This is the first time something has stopped me from eating delicious cheesy pizza. I may tell Kyle to drench all of our pizzas in red pepper flakes, since he loves the spice and I don’t. Read More | Comments

I have a list. Can we go over it? Just 3 things.

Don’t worry, the third point is a delicious recipe. I save the best for last.

    1. I did not post a Saturday Stills this past Saturday. Sorry about that. Life has been crazy. But I will make it up to you next week with a post full of fresh, hip and happening pictures. Or something like that! But if you need a fix, here are my Lady Gaga pictures, one more time! Read More | Comments

    yumyums - 150 px square

I don’t want to share this recipe you. Sure don’t.

I hope that doesn’t sound rude. It’s just that this recipe has been in our family since…. well I don’t know how long because they have always been around. My Grammy has made yum yums since I can remember and they are one of my all time favorite treats. It’s as if sharing this recipe shares my Grammy, and she’s all mine. Okay, and all my cousins and other family members, but you get the point. But since you and I have this recipe-sharing-relationship going on, I feel obligated. This is a recipe you need, and you need it now. Read More | Comments

    Brownies - 150 px square

I don’t even know what to say ya’ll. I was making chocolate chip brownie cups. I had a big box of  cocoa pebbles cereal on hand (the best cereal in my opinion) and decided to throw some in my brownie batter. And by some I mean a lot. I topped the brownies with cocoa pebbles too. Then I threw them in the oven and was anxious. Did I ruin a perfectly good batch of brownies? Or are these going to be the best brownies ever?

I ate a big bowl of cocoa pebbles as I pondered these questions. And I wrote down the ingredients I used while it was still fresh in my head, just in case these ended up being something special. Read More | Comments

    FlourlessCHocolateCake - 150 px square

I have been one busy bee lately. I am getting ready to go back to school and just made my class schedule. I am so excited, and so nervous at the same time. Being back on the campus made me remember all the homework I had, and haven’t had in the past two years since I graduated (unless you count this blog, which is totally home work). But the quicker I graduate, the quicker I can start my career and my life.

If you are out of the loop, then let me quickly fill you in. Went to culinary school. Started cooking professionally. Started catering. Started blogging. Started to like photography. Started to LOVE photography. Changed my focus. Enrolled back in school. And in three years I will have my bachelors in photography (emphasis on food) and will be one happy camper. Do I even need to say anything?
    Just look at this brownie.

It was soft and it was moist, like a great brownie should be. I enjoy a cakey type brownie every once in a while, but usually I crave gooey, rich and deep chocolate brownies. Read More | Comments
